With so many eJuice manufacturers using different product expiration durations ranging from 1 year to 2 years, and others only providing the made on date, it can be confusing as to whether an eJuice that you have with an expiration date 5 months in the past or another that was made 19 months ago is still good to vape.
Although flavourings such as those containing high percentages of vanilla will get very dark over a short period of time, they are still 100% vapable (although possibly unpleasant to the eye). In fact, the only component of eJuice that actually expires is the Nicotine. It does so because nicotine degrades over time when exposed to oxygen, light and heat. The location in which your eJuice is stored can therefore affect the expiration date of your eJuice. For example, if you were to keep a bottle of Black Note or Five Pawns that come in a cardboard tube and glass bottles in a cool room in your house, they could easily last for 3 years. On the other hand, if you keep your eJuice in a clear chubby bottle next to your south facing window in the summertime, your eJuice will likely need to be replaced within 1 year. Rule of thumb states that if you are storing your eJuice or Vape Juice in a cool, dark place, your eJuice will last at least 2 years. If you are storing it in a warm well lit room, you will probably have 18 months to finish the bottle.
Most eJuices are sold within the first 6-8 months of manufacture and you may be able to use this information to determine how much time a manufacturer is giving for their expiry date (12 months, 18 months or 24 months are most common). Remember, a well steeped eJuice is like a fine wine. It usually gets better with age.
